The course introduces higher education students to the role and significance of intercultural communication and multilingual component at the current stage of teaching foreign languages in the context of integration of Ukraine into the European educational space.

Purpose: to form students’ knowledge and ideas about the main approaches to the problem of intercultural communication and multilingualism in education.

The objectives are to acquaint students with the nuances of intercultural communication and multilingualism (in the system of related concepts “bilingualism”, “plurilingualism”, “polyglotism”, etc.), to study the experience of European countries in introducing the principles of multiculturalism and multilingualism while teaching foreign languages from the standpoint of its implementation taking into account the language situation in Ukraine, to analyse the conceptualization of English for multicultural and multilingual Europe.
